I agree with you on all your points. My essay was solely focused on the user experience of the app itself, and the functionality it offers. I decided not to talk about issues like privacy and censorship in this particular essay. Outside of those factors, we can still appreciate the work of good engineers and designers who simply try to accomplish the goals they are given. :)

But hey — good point about chat history syncing being an issue. I myself have lost all my chat history on multiple occasions and it’s definitely a place where WeChat can be improved.

My audience is mostly of people working on their own product ideas. They can learn a lot from WeChat on how to create a wonderful, fluid user experience and increase engagement.
